Most drivers understand the difference between different car designs, like hatchbacks, sedans, and SUVs.
But what exactly is a ‘small’ car, and why is it such a good rental option?
A small car – technically known as a compact car – is any car with an interior volume index of 2.8–3.1 metres cubed.
The Toyota Corolla, Hyundai i30, and Kia Cerato are all popular small cars in Queensland.
Small cars make great rental vehicles because they’re normally fuel-efficient and easy to park – which matters when you’re driving to lots of new destinations.
Cheap to Hire
There’s no point in paying extra for an SUV or 4X4 when you don’t need one.
Small cars cost less to buy and insure, which is why they’re so much cheaper to rent.
Easy to Park
Worried about tight parks in a city you don’t know?
A small car makes parking anywhere easy, reducing your risk of sideswipes and bad reversals.
Cheap to Refuel
Using around 6.5–7.5 litres per 100 kilometres, a small car means less money spent at the servo – and more for your next adventure.
Easy to Handle
Bigger cars are often harder to steer and need more cornering space.
If you like low-effort driving, a small car could be the right fit for you.
Many car rental companies only offer near-new vehicles that have high acquisition/financing costs – costs that they pass onto you, the driver.
We’re the opposite. When you’re looking for a cheap rental car, you don’t need frills like leather seats, Apple Play, and cruise control. You’re after a reliable vehicle to get you from A to B as cost-effectively as possible – and that’s exactly what we deliver.
Our fleet is made up of base-model hatchbacks and sedans from manufacturers like Toyota, Hyundai , Kiaand Suzuki. Instead of only using vehicles made in the last 2 years (like some of our competitors), we focus on choosing models built for reliability (which also helps keep our insurance costs down).
Each vehicle is serviced in accordance with manufacturer standards and safety-certified by an independent examiner at least once every 12 months.
You must be aged 21–80 and hold an open driver’s license to hire a Cheapie car. Our insurance policy means we can’t rent to anyone aged under 21 or over 80.
Each booking comes with 80 free kilometres per day (600 kilometres per week). Additional kilometres will be tallied when you return your car and charged at 20 cents per kilometre.
We follow the Australian Finance Industry Association’s Car Rental Code of Practice. Always check your rental agreement for fair wear and tear inclusions and exclusions as they apply to your vehicle.
